The mooloolaBaBQ festival is a community event on Australia Day Weekend, Saturday 28th January, at the Mooloolaba Wharf precinct from 10am - 8pm, embracing everything that people in the multi-cultural Australian community love about the great Australian family & friends activity… the BBQ.
To celebrate this Aussie love of firing up the barbie, we have brought together a bbq event for all the senses to incorporate a wide variety of cultures, styles of cooking, flavours & cuts. From Seafood to Pork to Beef to Lamb, whether Chard, Grill, Smoked, Roasted, On a Spit or marinated… this is sure to have something to tempt all tastes.
The mooloolaBaBQ festival will be hosting a National Championship Series Barbecue Competition in conjunction with the Australasian Barbecue Alliance where Australia’s best teams will be invited to compete for National Championship Points & $6,000 Cash & Prizes.
Along with this there will be food trucks & tents offering Texas BBQ Lamb/Pork/Beef Ribs, Sliders, Chip babs, German Sausages, Food market stalls with Pickles and Meat rubs, Craft beer, Celebrity guests & demonstrations, Live Entertainment, Jumping castle, Petting Zoo, Face painting, & Fireworks to finish the day at 8pm. This is a charity event to raise money for the Cancer Council with only a $15 entry fee & kids under 5 are free. The mooloolaBaBQ festival will definitely make your Australia Day weekend sizzle!
MooloolaBaBQ Kids Championship (hosted by celebrity chef MATT GOLINSKI)
As a part of the family BBQ fun at the MooloolaBaBQ Festival, we are holding a BBQ Competition for kids aged between 6-12yrs old to enter to win a chance to cook in front of a crowd and be mentored and judge by Celebrity Chef Matt Golinski. With major prizes up for grabs such as Family of 4 Snorkel on Flinders Reef (Sunreef), Swimming with the Whales (Whale One), BBQ packs (BBQ's Galore), Meat trays and rubs (Cotton Tree Meats & Wyld Smoke) up for grabs!
To enter this competition to become one of the six finalists cooking off for prizes, all you have to do is -
- Send in a BBQ Specific recipe containing ONLY 6 INGREDIENTS
- Feel free to attach images of the finished product
- Date of birth
- Email address
- Parent/guardian's contact number for consent so that we can get contact them for permission verbal (followed by written consent)
The entrants ingredients / creativity / flare and food suitability to the BBQ competition will be judge on application and then 6 finalist will be selected to compete on the day.
